Body Art with Rob Harris

Hey whats up its Ian Ross the body painter here...I tried out some new body paint last night at the Matrix for Winedown Wed. It worked out pretty well, but the stuff was super tempermental, always sticking to itself like melting cheese on a pizza...Rob Harris and I managed to pull it off with smashing success though!!

The girls were super good sports, easy to work with, and very comfortable on the podiums...thanks ladies! I am excited to expand the possibilities of this medium, possibly with airbrush and stencils...

Hello my friends and family!  This blog has been a bit neglected, to say the least, but hopefully i can get back on top of it...we'll see!   I have recently put together a body of work, in between live paintings and commissions, of $100 paintings.  These are bits and pieces of older work that has been floating around, and also some brand new chunks of goodness that I am generously admitting to this affordable collection!  I want people who can't afford an original painting of mine to be able to purchase their first (or second) piece of my artwork...

Well, life has been extra super hectic lately, and its only gettin crazier!!  I am happy to be a busy artist, working on my passion and making a living at the same time...

I haven't had much time to update the blog, facebook, etc...so here is a quick little list of what my week looks like...and some other future dates to pay attention to if you like LIVE painting and stuff...

The image here is one of my favorite paintings, done in 2007, that is somehow still avaialable...I have no idea why.  It is hanging at Pier 3, and will be for sale during The Bar Code events this weekend...thanks for reading!

Wed. 5-13-09--Winedown WED. @ Matrix Fillmore, I will be painting the famous front windows LIVE for all in attendence starting around 9...

Thurs. 5-14-09--The Bar Code Official launch!  I will be painting LIVE from 4-10pm on Pier 3 and drinking some well deserved cocktails served by my friends from 15 Romolo..

Fri. 5-15-09--I'm painting a mural on Locust and Miller in Mill Valley...all day.

Sat. 5-16-09--Preparation for Bay To Breakers, including painting the flesh of 4 lovely ladies and possibly a quick LIVE painting for The Bar Code, again on Pier 3...

Sun. 5-17-09--Filming and photographing my artwork making its way across SF on the skin of those beauties that I mentioned...and maybe drinking 1 beer.

Mon. 5-18-09--Hanging arwork in a brand new Mill Valley salon, which is coming down from the Bar Code, and finishing up little details of the mural during the opening of the salon...

Tues. 5-19-09--Painting LIVE at Double Dutch in the Mission, around 9:30pm, and averting attention to my mural in the same location, in hopes of commissioning another one!

Wed.5-20-09--Wondering if Winedown Wednesday being a weekly event is a good idea...JUST KIDDING NIMA!!  I love this event and I'm stoked its goin weekly as of next Wed...

Sat. 5-23-09--Famous4 and Bigga Happiness present SOUND SYSTEM @ Mill Valley Masonic Events Center, where I will be painting LIVE and hanging some new art...

Thurs.-Sun. 5-28-31--The Bar Code...WEEKEND #2..I will be painting LIVE on Thurs. and Fri. These events will continue in this format every other weekend, always Thurs. through Sun. with new merchandise, music and art!!

Sat. 5-30-09--WORLD TOWN @ ROE...These guys throw raging parties, and I love painting LIVE for them every month...gotta check it out if you haven't been to one yet...

Sat. 6-6-09--BOOKSTOCK @ AT&T PARK I will be painting LIVE with some big name artists on deck, such as, Chor Boogie, Apex, Carly Ivan Garcia, and Brooke Heckaman, to name a few, but there will be like 50 artists!!  Don't miss that one!!

Sat. 6-13-09--Chillin Productions 11th Anniversary Bash @ MEZZANINE...I will be painting on stage, LIVE all night long!

Tues. 6-16-09--Parc 55 Hotel launch.  LIVE painting, stay tuned for details...

Here we go!!  The countdown to The Bar Code Launch is on!  Everyone has been working their butts off for days, weeks, some for months in anticipation of this...

Anyone have ideas for a name for this one?  I painted it during a cancer research benefit party, and its for sale.  The size is 48x72" on canvas.  I will probably keep working on details until it is purchased!

Well, spring is definitely here.  Relentless northwest winds, lots of sun, opening day, and new growth all around.  I feel excited about new opportunities that are presenting themselves, every day there seems to be another one emerging...

I thought that this painting, entitled "Spring" would be a nice reminder for everyone that beauty exists all around us.   I have been very lucky to be able to do what I do, and even luckier that this career, this passion and pursuit of my truest dreams and desires, is introducing me to more and more good people every day.  I am very thankful!

Here is the first flyer for the Bookstock event coming up in June.  I will be honored to paint LIVE next to an all-star cast of artists such as, Carly Ivan Garcia, Ethan B. Luce, Chor Boogie, Apex, Alex Pardee and more!  We will be painting huge pieces along the outfield wall, inside AT&T Park..

Might wanna come check that out, as well as all the other cool stuff that will be going on...

Tomorrow we shoot on location for the upcoming event in May called "The Bar Code".  This fashion, music and art extravaganza will go down on the 14th of May, and weekly thereafter.  This is a special shopping event on Pier 3, in a beautiful space that will be decked out with all the best work that I have to date...I will pass along the info about guest passes and entry as soon as the details come together...

I hope you had a wonderful sunny saturday somewhere special!  How's that for alliteration? 

Tonight is the benefit party at Project One Gallery SF, (P1SF.com)  I will be painting from 9 until about midnight.  There will be live jazz, DJ Voodoo Chop and Dancing all night!

Hope to see you there!  All the proceeds go to UCSF Children's Hospital.  Proceeds from the sale of my painting will do the same.  Here's the address, its kinda out there, but worth the trip!

I love this Gallery, its one of the best in SF for nightlife...

WINEDOWN WEDNESDAY AT THE MATRIX IS NOW A WEEKLY EVENT!!

Starting next month, on the second wednesday of May, this event will be every week on wednesday.  I paint live in the beautiful windows of the Matrix, on Fillmore in the Marina.  Next month I will be painting THE ACTUAL WINDOWS, LIVE!!
